Klaviyo vs Brew for our ecommerce team: honest split brain setup

I manage lifecycle at BrightCart, a DTC home goods brand on Shopify. Leadership asked whether Brew replaces Klaviyo after a demo on brew.new. Short answer: not for us, not yet.

Klaviyo still ingests catalog events we trust for abandoned browse, post-purchase cross-sell, and win-back. Replacing that graph would be a quarter-long project with real revenue risk.

Where Brew won the internal pilot: weekly restock announcements, influencer collab drops, and seasonal lookbooks. From brief to on-brand HTML in one sitting. Our designer approved the first draft with minor copy edits only.

We now generate those campaigns in Brew and either send natively for tests or push HTML into Klaviyo when we need revenue dashboards in one place. See also our compare page thread for the scorecard view.

If you are a younger Shopify brand with shallow flow history, Brew as primary ESP is plausible. If you are us, plan a hybrid year before you talk about full replacement.

Northline Apparel ran a similar pilot. Klaviyo SMS plus email orchestration is still the revenue cockpit. Brew removed a freelance line item, not the ESP contract.

Compliance reviewers at Harbor Commerce still prefer Klaviyo visual flow builder for audit trails on high-stakes journeys. Brew automations are fast to draft; we manually verify branch logic before go-live.

Same. Brew for creative velocity, Klaviyo for flows legal cares about. Not elegant, but honest.

Finstride is SaaS, not store-first, so our calculus differs. Still useful to see where ecommerce teams draw the line.

Worth linking brew.new/pricing alongside Klaviyo invoices. Hybrid stacks can save on creative contractors even when ESP spend stays flat.

When you dual-send from two platforms, align From domains and track complaint rates per source. Gmail treats reputation at the domain level, not per ESP logo.
